Less than six months after launching the upgraded V136-4.2 MW turbine, Vestas has received the first order for the new machine.
Vestas will install, supply and commission the new turbines at the Valhalla project, located in central Sweden. Placed by long-term customer OX2, the 357 MW order includes a total of 85 V136-4.2 MW turbines, which are specifically designed to offer higher energy production at sites with medium wind speeds.
“We are very happy to announce this large order for the Valhalla project and further strengthen our long-standing relationship with Vestas,” says Paul Stormoen, managing director at OX2. “The upgraded V136-4.2 MW offers a good match for us and the site.”
The contract also a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. Delivery of the wind turbines is expected to begin in the second half of 2019, with commissioning planned for first half of 2020.
