Ex-Im Bank Approves Loan For Honduras Wind Farm Powered By Gamesa

The Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) has approved a $28.6 million direct loan to Energia Eolica de Honduras S.A.

The transaction helps expand a wind farm the Ex-Im Bank first supported in 2010, when it financed 51 Gamesa-built turbine generators for the 126 MW Cerro de Hula Wind Farm, located in Honduras.

With the additions from this transaction, the wind farm will have 63 wind turbines and a total installed capacity of 126 MW.

The Ex-Im Bank notes that Gamesa will manufacture and export six G87 and six G-97 2 MW turbines.

‘While the U.S. wind industry slowly is recovering after late renewal of the U.S. production tax credit in January, thanks to Ex-Im Bank, these export projects are creating new business opportunities in emerging markets and are supporting good-paying jobs throughout the entire supply chain,’ says David Flitterman, Gamesa's North American chairman.
