The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has appointed new personnel for key areas associated with grid and market operations.
Woody Rickerson, currently director of grid coordination, will be vice president of grid planning and operations. Kenan Ogelman, formerly the director of energy market policy for CPS Energy, will be vice president of commercial operations.
According to ERCOT, Rickerson has been involved in developing the tools used to operate the ERCOT grid since initial development of the ERCOT zonal market system in 2000, roles with increasing responsibility roles prior to his most recent position. A licensed professional engineer, he has worked for utilities in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico.
Ogelman has also been involved in the ERCOT market since it began. He previously chaired ERCOT's technical advisory committee and served as a senior economist for the Texas Office of Public Utility Counsel, which represents residential electric consumers in Texas.
In other ERCOT news, chief operating officer (COO) Brad Jones is leaving to be CEO at the New York Independent System Operator beginning in January. Jeyant Tamby, ERCOT's chief of staff, will serve as interim COO until his successor is identified. Tamby played a key role in the development of ERCOT's energy and market systems. He also has a broad range of experience in the electric industry, including system operations, market design and implementation, enterprise architecture, international development, and corporate management.
