The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) says one of its vice presidents, Bryan Hannegan, will be leading an expanded EPRI renewable energy effort focusing on improving the cost and performance of current and emerging renewable generation technologies. He will also continue to lead EPRI's environment sector, which provides research to help address environmental and health questions related to the generation, delivery and use of electric power.
During his 20 months as vice president of EPRI's environment and generation sectors, Hannegan led the execution of several new generation sector initiatives and industry technology demonstration projects, resulting in more than 10% growth in EPRI's generation R&D activities since 2007.
Under the new structure, research on renewable issues relating to intermittency, integration, storage and related topics will continue to be provided by EPRI's power delivery and utilization sector.
