EarthFirst Canada Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, has appointed Linda Chambers to the positions of president and CEO.
Chambers has 11 years of experience at TransAlta Corp., including her role as president of TransAlta's U.S. operations and executive vice president of generation technology with fleet-wide responsibilities in Australia, Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.
Her experience has provided her with a strong background in hydro, wind, coal, gas-fired and geothermal power generation. A considerable aspect of her portfolio included strategic fleet planning and new technologies, focusing on addressing emissions and environmental policy issues.
The company anticipates that Chambers will join the board of directors, too.
‘We are indeed fortunate to have someone of Linda's talents and experience join EarthFirst,’ says David Erskine, chairman of the board of directors for EarthFirst Canada. ‘She will lead the company as we complete the construction of our 144 MW Dokie I wind energy project in the Peace River region of northeast British Columbia. In addition, we will be aggressively pursuing the commercialization of the rest of our 2,500 MW wind power development pipeline across Canada, including two other fully permitted projects ready to be bid into the recently announced Clean Power Call in British Columbia.’
