Deepwater Wind Rhode Island has hired David Muse as the company's project director, where he will oversee the planning, logistics, procurement and management of the assembly and construction of the company's planned offshore wind farms.
Muse, a registered professional engineer in Texas, has more than three decades of experience in the oil, gas and coal industries, with extensive international experience in planning, operating and maintaining capital projects ranging from $2 billion to $6.5 billion.
Muse will manage construction of Deepwater Wind's proposed Block Island Wind Farm, an offshore wind farm consisting of up to eight turbines planned for three miles off the coast of Block Island.
Muse will also oversee development of Deepwater's proposed Rhode Island Sound Wind Farm, which is expected to consist of 106 wind turbines in federal waters. Muse's duties will include overseeing Deepwater Wind's operations at Quonset Point, R.I., where the company has leased 117 acres to establish its regional manufacturing hub, and helping to identify the specific skill sets required by Deepwater's prospective workforce.
