Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Richard K. Sullivan Jr. has named David Cash a commissioner of the Commonwealth Utilities Commission, a three-member panel that oversees the EEA's Department of Public Utilities, the state agency principally responsible for the regulation of natural gas and electric utilities.

A member of the EEA since 2005, Cash currently serves as policy undersecretary and served previously as assistant secretary for policy, providing leadership on a wide range of environmental and clean energy initiatives.

At the EEA, Cash has worked to advance landmark clean energy legislation. He also led the EEA's effort to meet the goals of the Global Warming Solutions Act and to develop the Massachusetts Clean Energy and Climate Plan for 2020.
