CPS Energy Proposes Wind Transmission Construction

San Antonio-based utility CPS Energy recently filed a statement of interest with the Public Utility Commission of Texas to build two high-voltage transmission lines to deliver wind power from west Texas to south Texas.

‘Adding to our renewable energy capacity is one of the pillars of our Strategic Energy Plan to meet greater San Antonio's future energy needs,’ says Steve Bartley, deputy general manager of CPS Energy. ‘I'm delighted we're exploring the possibility of building these power lines to make it easier for the state to take greater advantage of west Texas' abundant wind-energy potential.’

In its filing, CPS Energy expressed interest in building two transmission lines in Texas – one that stretches approximately 137 miles from McCamey to Kendall Substation at Comfort and another that will run 31 miles north from McCamey to Twin Buttes Substation.
