DONG Energy has announced that construction has begun on the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm in Denmark.
The project will consist of 111 Siemens 3.6 MW wind turbines across an area of 88 square meters on a site located 15 km offshore. The wind turbines, which have a rotor diameter of 120 meters, will be erected at water depths of 15 to 19 meters.
The wind farm is expected to power 400,000 Danish households when it becomes operational in fall 2013.
The project is jointly owned by DONG Energy (50%), PensionDanmark (30%) and PKA (20%). DONG Energy is responsible for the construction and operation of the offshore wind farm.
