Consolidated Edison Development (ConEd Development), a N.Y.-based developer and operator of large-scale renewable energy projects, recently completed an agreement with Campbell County Wind Farm Holdings to acquire, construct and operate a wind power project on property owned by a group of local farmers in Pollock, S.D.
The 95 MW wind farm, currently under construction, consists of 55 1.7 MW GE wind turbines and is scheduled to be operational by the end of this year. Electricity generated from the facility is contracted to the Basin Electric Power Cooperative under a 30-year power purchase agreement. The wind farm is interconnected with the Western Area Power Administration transmission system.
‘We're pleased to begin construction on the Campbell County site, which will provide enough electricity to power a significant portion of the region's energy usage,’ says Mark Noyes, ConEd Development's senior vice president and chief operating officer.
