Blue Island, Ill.-based G&W Electric has enhanced its line of power distribution products for the wind energy market to include a compact modular switch designed to fit through a typical wind tower door opening.
The switch is available in a variety of configurations to provide fault protection to step-up transformers and load break switching. The different configurations permit loop-through capability of a number of turbine towers to the collector system to power up the grid.
Switches are rated through 38 kV, 630A continuous and up to 25 kA symmetrical interrupting per ANSI C37.60. Two-position and three-position (integral ground) switches are available. Switches offer dead-front construction compatible to IEEE 386 standards for 200A and 600A separable connector systems. Viewing windows are provided for positive contact position indication.
