CENTA Corp. Introduces New Slip Systems For Wind Turbine Protection

0

Aurora, Ill.-based CENTA Corp. has introduced new slip systems for wind turbine generator protection with the enhanced version of its torque hub.

CENTA's latest development in slip systems positions the slip unit to the middle section of the shaft. By relocating the slip function, manufacturing tolerances at the generator shaft do not cause variations in the slip torque, resulting in improved accuracy of the slip function, according to the company.

The slip system is also designed to be pre-mounted as a complete unit. The maximum torque is set on a certified test bench according to the manufacturer's requirements and documented in a test report, eliminating the need for on-site adjustments.

In addition, the slip system is designed to allow for multiple slip processes without having a major impact on the slip torque setting, according to CENTA.
