Broadwind Reels In $34 Million Turbine Orders

Cicero, Ill.-headquartered Broadwind Energy Inc. has announced $34 million in new tower orders from two unidentified U.S. wind turbine manufacturers.

Broadwind, which has facilities throughout the central U.S., including Manitowoc, Wis., and Abilene, Texas, will produce the towers for delivery in 2016 and 2017.

Stephanie Kushner, the company’s interim CEO, notes that the extension of the production tax credit and the recent Internal Revenue Service start-of-construction guidelines have helped strengthen the “outlook for the wind industry in the U.S.”

“The employees at our Manitowoc and Abilene plants are producing high-quality towers to help meet this demand,” she says.
