Thanks to the extension of the production tax credit (PTC), Broadwind Energy announced $50 million in new tower orders from a U.S. wind turbine manufacturer.
‘With the extension of the PTC at the end of 2014, demand for wind towers in 2016 is strong,’ says Peter Duprey, president and CEO for Broadwind. ‘This is a good start to filling out our capacity for 2016, and we are currently in active discussions on additional orders for 2016 and 2017 production volume.’
According to Broadwind, the towers will be manufactured from the company's facilities in Manitowoc, Wisc., and Abilene, Texas, for delivery in 2016.
