Rural electric cooperative members in Missouri have commissioned the 56.7 MW Bluegrass Ridge wind farm, the state's first wind facility. Springfield, Mo.-based Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. (AECI) has agreed to purchase all the electricity produced by three wind farms in northwest Missouri for 20 years.

In addition to the Bluegrass Ridge facility, AECI will purchase wind power from the 50.4 MW Cow Branch and 50.4 Conception wind farms in Atchison and Nodaway counties, respectively. These facilities are expected to be complete by the end of the year. The state's first wind farms are supported by a partnership that includes AECI, AECI member cooperatives, St. Louis-based Wind Capital Group and John Deere Wind Energy.
