The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) has launched “Take Time to Take Care,” a new campaign focused on wind turbine technician safety.

Like any career requiring physical exertion, the wind industry must take preventative measures to avoid soft-tissue damage of muscles, ligaments and tendons, explains AWEA. The “Take Time to Take Care” campaign highlights materials that help wind technicians stay healthy and safe, including a training module, stretching poster and two webinars.

AWEA’s CEO, Tom Kiernan, says, “We are pleased to announce AWEA’s third annual October safety campaign, ‘Take Time to Take Care.’ Focusing on soft-tissue injury prevention, the campaign addresses the importance of proper stretching and body positioning for wind techs’ occupational health and safety.”

AWEA’s safety campaigns are created through the the AWEA Safety Campaign Subcommittee and the Environmental, Health and Safety Committee. Together, these committees help ensure wind workers are safe in their jobs, the association says.
