Charlottesville, Va.-based Apex Clean Energy – which builds, owns and operates utility-scale wind and solar power – has acquired Sangamon Wind One from American Wind Energy Management Corp. (AWEM).
Situated in western Sangamon County, Ill., the project has the potential to provide 130 MW of wind energy, says Apex.
This is the second wind project Apex has acquired from AWEM: Earlier this year, Apex bought the 175 MW Sugar Creek Wind One, located approximately 5 miles west of Lincoln, Ill.
“AWEM is once again very excited to be teaming with Apex to move another project forward through acquisition,” says Andreas Knauer, president of AWEM. “We look forward to our continued relationship with Apex and to working alongside them through the final stages of development and construction.”
