Charlottesville, Va.-based Apex Clean Energy has acquired the Sugar Creek Wind One project from Springfield, Ill.-based American Wind Energy Management Corp. (AWEM).

According to AWEM, the project is situated on 16,500 acres of land approximately 5 miles west of Lincoln, Ill. With roughly 175 MW of capacity, the wind farm will have 90-100 turbines, each rated at 1.7 MW of capacity.

“AWEM is very excited to be moving the project forward through the acquisition by Apex,” says Andreas Knauer, president of AWEM. “We look forward to working hand in hand with the Apex team through the final stages of development and into construction.”

Apex Clean Energy builds, owns and operates utility-scale wind and solar power facilities. Last year, Apex says it completed 1.042 GW of new wind capacity.
