In a deal signed at the Irish Embassy in Washington D.C. – and valued at approximately $330 million – global renewable energy company Airtricity has agreed to purchase 250 MW of GE 1.5 MW wind turbines. The turbines – due for delivery in 2009 – will support the company's growth in the Texas, Midwest and Northeast markets, according to Airtricity.
Airtricity North America has 460 MW under construction and 700 MW in final stage development, backed by firm orders for wind turbines for delivery in 2008 through early 2009. An additional 6,500 MW are under development.
