Airstreams Renewables Inc., a California-based renewable education and training company, has added two directors to its management staff. Lisa Gilbert was named director of education, and Barry Morris was named Midwest regional training manager.
Gilbert joins the Airstreams staff with over 20 years experience in K-12 public education. She has served as a school administrator for seven years, most recently as chief administrator of instructional services at the district office level.
Morris joins Airstreams with extensive knowledge in safety training and will focus on establishing Airstreams wind energy certification programs in the Upper Midwest region as Airstreams finalizes plans for its new Midwest Learning Center.
Prior to joining Airstreams, Morris was director of safety and training for energy maintenance service and worked in the medical field for three years as a certified orthotist.
In related news, Airstreams received approval from the Kern County Planning Commission to open the Green Corner, Airstream's renewable energy learning center in Tehachapi, Calif.
This project is designed to incorporate energy efficient design as part of its development, including plans to build an 11-acre solar field and a wind turbine on 33 acres in the northeast corner of Tehachapi-Willow Springs Road and Abajo Avenue. The company expects the new facility to train 300 to 500 people each year and will start accepting enrollment in spring 2010.
