St. Louis-based developer Affinity Wind has received an investment of $300,000 from the Billiken Angel Network to fund its initial 150 MW wind project in west central Illinois.
The investment in the wind project marks the first investment of the Billiken Angel Network, comprising primarily St. Louis University alumni. The investment sum oversubscribed the amount Affinity sought in its LLC Series A Offering, so Billiken took an unspecified equity stake in the company.
Affinity Wind was formed in 2008 by Trey Goede, an adjunct professor in the university's John Cook School of Business Management. Goede expects the Illinois project to be the first of several Midwestern projects. Â
