C-bed Vessel Slated For 400 MW Offshore Wind Farm Construction

Dutch offshore shipping company C-bed says it intends to deploy its DP2 Walk-2-Work vessel, Wind Innovation, at a 400 MW offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

According to the company, the vessel will play an integral part in the installation and commissioning phase of the 400 MW project, which will feature 67 turbines and will kick off in January 2017. C-bed adds that the contract will last between seven and 10 months.

Wind Innovation holds a Comfort Class 3 certification, and a recent upgrade allows the vessel to accommodate 105 passengers in 80 cabins. With this high number of hotel beds, the vessel is unique in that ordinary Service Operation Vessels normally only have hotel facilities for approximately 40 passengers.

“We made a significant investment in connection with acquiring and rebuilding Wind Innovation,” says Flemming Hjorth, senior sales executive. “Therefore, I am pleased to acknowledge a great interest in our vessel from offshore wind operators and to see that this tailor-made vessel makes a real difference for the offshore workers during the installation phase.”
