St. Louis-based carbon fiber manufacturer Zoltek Corp. is expanding into a 135,000 square-foot manufacturing facility and technical center specifically targeting wind energy.
Zoltek says growing demand for low-cost carbon fiber, particularly in wind energy, necessitated the expansion.
According to Zoltek, carbon fiber composites are ideal for wind blade reinforcement, enabling longer blades to capture more wind energy – even at lower wind speeds – and convert it to electricity.
