Winergy Drive Systems is debuting its new 3 MW HybridDrive wind turbine to the North American marketplace.
Winergy's HybridDrive technology combines a gearbox and a permanent magnet generator (PMG) into one product. The direct linkage of the two-stage gearbox and the PMG shortens the drive train by approximately 35%, allowing for a significant reduction in nacelle size and overall turbine weight, according to the company.
The Germany-based company maintains a production facility in Elgin, Ill.
