Windpower Innovations Inc., a wind power infrastructure and smart grid solutions company, has finalized an agreement to open its first full-service heavy lift facility in Oregon.
The company will work with A.F. Dick Manufacturing Inc. to immediately begin providing a comprehensive range of services for 1 MW to 5 MW wind turbines.
‘This is intended to be one of several strategic locations throughout the U.S. – the next most likely being in the Texas/New Mexico region – and will give us the ability to fulfill high-volume contracts with equipment of any size,’ says John Myers, CEO of WindPower Innovations. ‘The Oregon site was chosen because of its central location, as well as the area's rail and deep-water port access, which will provide national and international access to and from our facility.’
A.F. Dick Manufacturing has the facilities and equipment needed to carry out a full range of services for the large turbine format, including repair, major overhauling of all gearboxes and the retrofitting of turbines already in service, according to WindPower Innovations.
