The Renewable Energy Center at Puget Sound Energy's (PSE) Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility, located near Ellensburg, Wash., will open April 1 for the 2011 tourist season.
Visitors can learn about renewable energy from the center's informational displays and also from guided hikes on the Trail of Discovery past operating wind turbines and one of the Pacific Northwest's most expansive solar power arrays.
PSE's Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility was completed in 2006 and expanded in 2009. It consists of 149 wind turbines and 2,723 solar panels.
The center, which has welcomed more than 60,000 visitors since 2008, is open through November (weather permitting). Public guided tours occur daily, and private group tours can also be arranged.
