Vancouver, British Columbia-based Western Wind Energy Corp. has executed an amendment to a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Southern California Edison (SCE). The change involves the PPA for the 120 MW Windstar Project, located in Tehachapi, Calif. Details of the agreement remain confidential; however, the amendment updates terms to reflect current market conditions and project status, according to the companies.
Western Wind anticipates the start of construction to be Aug. 1, 2010 and the commercial operation date to be March 1, 2011.
Energy will be transmitted through the already-built and privately owned Sagebrush and Wilderness Lines and, therefore, does not require the usage of soon-to-be-built transmission projects, according to Western Wind.
