In 2012, Wells Fargo & Co. invested more than $6 billion in environmental financing, including for ‘green’ building and renewable energy projects.

According to the company's recently issued 2012 Corporate Social Responsibility Interim Report, Wells Fargo continues to make such investments to support its overall goal of issuing $30 billion in loans and investments by 2020 to promote a ‘greener economy.’

In 2012, the company provided over $500 million to wind and solar projects through construction finance, project equity investments, and direct lease and loan financing. For example, the report notes that Wells Fargo funded a 7.5 MW solar project designed and built by SunPower Corp. for the City of Phoenix, Ariz.
