Atlanta-based WEG Electric Motors Corp., a global supplier of motors, drives and transformers, has broken ground on an advanced transformer plant that will serve U.S. customers in the utility, municipality, wind and industrial market segments. Located just north of Mexico City, the 75,000 square-foot facility will provide transformers of up to 300 million volt-amperes and 230 kV.
‘Our new transformer facility will feature the most up-to-date equipment and processes to guarantee shorter delivery times and highest reliability,’ says Salvador Sordo, sales manager for WEG transformers in North America.
WEG is currently accepting orders for the new plant, with deliveries commencing next summer.
