St. Louis-based Wind Capital Group (WCG), independent developers of wind energy, have announced the sale of its 200 MW Buffalo Creek Wind Farm in Iowa to Interstate Power and Light Co. (IPL), a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corp.
WCG initially developed the construction-ready site, which is located near the city of Hampton in Franklin County. IPL will complete the construction of Buffalo Creek and expects the first 100 MW of wind-generated electricity to come online by 2010.
‘The Buffalo Creek Wind Farm represents a major part of our efforts to bring wind energy home to families and rural communities across the Midwest,’ says Tom Carnahan, president of WCG. ‘In developing the Buffalo Creek site, we received tremendous support from the local community and from Franklin County officials, who understand the benefits of developing clean, renewable energy.’
