Wausaukee Composites, Inc. has been awarded purchase contracts for the supply of wind turbine nacelle housings to two major wind turbine generator manufacturers. Combined, the two agreements are anticipated to generate more than $35 million in sales over a three-year period.
A major international wind turbine manufacturer has awarded Wausaukee Composites a contract for the supply of wind turbine nacelle housings, spinning hubs and nosecone assemblies for its 1.5 MW wind turbine.
Wausaukee Composites also has existing commitments to supply more than 500 nacelle housings to a separate wind turbine manufacturer. The company will supply wind turbine nacelle housings and secondary hardware assemblies for that company's 2.5 MW wind turbine.
‘We have been actively developing new manufacturing opportunities in this emerging market segment for more than two years,’ says David Lisle, president and CEO of Wausaukee Composites. ‘This is our green strategy and a keystone in our overall growth strategy. The North American wind energy industry is a market where we see tremendous growth potential and high demand for our specialized composite engineering, manufacturing and value-added secondary assembly capabilities.’
Wausaukee Composites will manufacture the wind turbine nacelle cover assemblies both at its Wausaukee plant in northeast Wisconsin and at a new manufacturing plant it has recently acquired in Cuba City, Wis. According to the company, the new plant will have production capacity to produce up to 800 wind turbine nacelles a year.
