West Fargo, N.D.-based construction services company Wanzek has added an all-terrain crane to its fleet of wind farm construction vehicles.
According to Wanzek, the addition of the LTM1500-8.1 crane will allow the provider to exchange the majority of turbine components across a variety of turbine types. The company notes that while crawler cranes can complete the work – particularly for some of the larger turbine components – moving the crawlers between tower locations can be problematic.
Using an all-terrain crane to move within a site makes challenging sites more manageable and creates a more efficient schedule, Wanzek notes, adding that the crane allows the construction services provider to work on towers at more sites in a shorter amount of time, which reduces customer costs and downtime.
