Vision-Ease Lens (VEL), a manufacturer of eyeglass lenses, is reducing its carbon footprint through the purchase of enough wind energy to run its facility in Ramsey, Minn.
‘Manufacturers have a responsibility to offer a better option for eco-minded consumers,’ says Doug Hepper, president and CEO of VEL. ‘Reducing Vision-Ease Lens' carbon emissions as a manufacturer translates directly to consumers. We're giving them another, more important factor to consider when making lens purchases.’
VEL says it is one of Minnesota's largest industrial companies to purchase all of its electricity from renewable resources. The company purchases renewable energy from Connexus Energy, an electric distribution cooperative.
