Vestas has received an order from BWP Eider GmbH & Co. KG for a 72.6 MW citizen-owned wind power plant in northern Germany.
The contract comprises the supply, installation and commissioning of 22 V112-3.3 MW turbines, a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution, and a 15-year full-scope service agreement (AOM 5000). Turbine delivery is planned to start in the third quarter of this year, with commissioning slated for the fourth quarter.
"With 700 local residents investing, this power plant is a successful example for a democratic change in the energy mix," comment Marcus Alexander Rolfs and Gerald Grimmer, managing directors of the Eider wind power plant.
Vestas released the V112-3.0 MW, the first wind turbine in its new 3 MW platform, in September 2010. As of Dec. 31, 2013, the company says it has delivered 937 units of the V112-3.0 MW worldwide, representing a total capacity of more than 2.8 GW, and has received more than 5 GW of firm orders for this model.
