Vestas has announced the first U.S. order for its V126-3.3 MW wind turbines, which are part of the company's 3 MW platform. The company says it will supply 61 of the turbines for a 200 MW project in Oklahoma to an undisclosed customer.
This order includes the supply and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a three-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement. Vestas expects to begin delivering the turbines in the second quarter of 2016, with commissioning planned for the second half of next year.
"Historically, Oklahoma has been 2 MW territory, but this order once again emphasizes the versatility of our product portfolio and shows that we can draw from both our 2 MW and 3 MW platforms to select exactly the right turbine to meet our customers' needs," says Chris Brown, president of Vestas' sales and service division in North America.
