Vestas Receives Turbine Orders For Projects In New Mexico, Canada

Vestas has received a 50.4 MW order for 28 V100-1.8 MW wind turbines from Element Power for the first phase of the 99 MW Macho Springs Wind Energy Project in Luna County, N.M.

The contract includes delivery and commissioning, along with a 10-year turbine service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled for early 2011, and commissioning is expected in mid-2011.

Element Power has an option to purchase an additional 27 V100-1.8 MW wind turbines for the second phase of the project, which is targeted to proceed next year.

In addition, Vestas has received a 99 MW order for 55 V100-1.8 MW turbines for a wind energy project in British Columbia, Canada. The contract includes delivery and commissioning, along with a 10-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2012, and commissioning is expected in late 2012.

Vestas' production facilities in Colorado will manufacture the main components of the turbines for the British Columbia order. The blades will be made in Windsor, towers in Pueblo and nacelles assembled in Brighton.
