Turbine maker Vestas has received a third order from Finland which features wind turbines perched on Large Diameter Steel Towers (LDST).
According to Vestas, customer reconcept GmbH is planning to use 9 V126-3.3 MW wind turbines for the Ylivieska Pajukoski project, located in Finland.
Vestas notes that LDST technology features a special wider diameter lower section of the tower, resulting in increased strength without adding extra steel. Vestas can thus provide taller towers for customers to optimize power generation at low-wind-speed sites for the V126-3.3 MW.
