Vestas has secured an order from Rajakiiri Oy to supply turbines for the 16.5 MW Puuska II wind project in Finland. Puuska II, located in the cold climate region around Tornio, will also be the first commercial Finnish project to use the Vestas De-icing System (VDS).
In addition to the VDS, the contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of five V112-3.3 MW turbines, along with a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution and a six-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement.
Turbine delivery is slated for next year, with commissioning expected at the end of the second quarter of 2015.Â
"Vestas is extremely pleased that Rajakiiri Oy has placed this order with us," states Klaus Steen Mortensen. "Vestas' track record and technology means we can offer our customers a strong business case for their wind power plants. Vestas De-icing System ensures we can offer our customer a solution to reduce the risk of icing and ensure maximum production."
Vestas notes it has installed 65 turbines, totaling 100 MW, in Finland to date.
