Vestas Outsources Calibration Services In Deal With Exova Metech

Vestas has entered an outsourcing deal under which Exova Metech will acquire the turbine maker's in-house calibration assets and become a preferred supplier of calibration services. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Exova Metech, which says it has over 15 years' experience in wind turbine calibration, has acquired operations in Lem, Denmark, and Denver, Colo., and has agreed to acquire a calibration operation in China later this year. The companies say the move builds upon a long-term relationship between the two parties.

"We have worked with Exova Metech for many years, and this deal secures the best calibration partner for our business," says Vestas' Nicola Gianluca Raimondi. "By outsourcing our calibration services, we can better focus on our core activities while maintaining the highest levels of technical service in this critical discipline."

This agreement comes after Vestas announced in June 2013 that it was outsourcing its spare parts network to logistics provider DB Schenker, as well as revealed in October 2013 that it was selling and outsourcing its casting units to VTC Partners GmbH.
