Vestas will supply 149 V100-2.0 MW turbines for the 298 MW Kingfisher Wind project, located in Oklahoma.
According to Vestas, Apex Clean Energy developed the Kingfisher Wind project and will manage its construction and serve as asset manager during facility operation. The project is scheduled to be completed this year.
The order comprises supply and commissioning as well as a 10-year service agreement. Vestas notes that its proprietary technology includes an energy-based availability guarantee ensuring that the wind turbines are operational when the wind is blowing.
Upon completion, private equity and infrastructure investment firm First Reserve will acquire the project from Apex. When complete, Kingfisher is expected to be one of the largest single-phase wind projects in Oklahoma.
