Vestas has signed a 40 MW contract in Poland with SPV – Nowotna Farma Wiatrowa, a subsidiary of Taiga Mistral. Located in the Gdansk region, the Ostazewo project represents the first European order for Vestas' V110-2.0 MW wind turbines.
The deal includes delivery, installation and commissioning of the turbines, which is expected to occur during the fourth quarter of 2014. The project also includes a 15-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service contract.
Vestas notes it has signed V110-2.0 MW orders for a total of 950 MW in the U.S. since introducing the turbine on the market in April 2013, and the company says it is pleased to initiate its first project in Europe to utilize this new turbine model. According to Vestas, the V110-2.0 MW turbine generates an annual energy production approximately 14% higher than its V100-1.8 MW.
