The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission has approved Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana's purchase of 50 MW of wind energy from the second phase of the Fowler Ridge wind farm in Benton County, Ind., which is expected to move into construction later this year.
The 20-year power purchase agreement is the second wind energy contract for Vectren, and it brings the utility's total wind power portfolio to 80 MW. Vectren previously signed a 20-year contract in December 2007 with an independently owned wind farm in Benton County.
The Fowler Ridge wind farm, which will be the largest in the Midwest when completed, is owned and operated through a joint venture of BP Wind Energy and Dominion.
