European energy provider Vattenfall says it has completed the transfer of transmission assets for the Ormonde offshore wind farm to Transmission Capital Partners (TCP). According to Vattenfall, the deal includes a 42 km export cable and substations associated with the wind farm, located in the Irish Sea.
TCP will now own and operate the wind farm's onshore and offshore substations. The license granted to TCP by regulator Ofgem allows it to operate the transmission cable and the substations for 20 years, Vattenfall notes.
The company says the transfer of transmission assets is its first in the U.K. and notes that a similar transfer of transmission assets is expected later this year at its Thanet offshore wind farm, located off the U.K. coast.
