The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is providing $62.5 million in loans and grants for 705 renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in 45 states and Puerto Rico under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).
REAP loan guarantees and grants can be used for renewable energy systems, energy efficiency improvements, feasibility studies and energy audits.
Several wind projects in Iowa received funding, including Bulldog Wind Energy LLC, which received a $500,000 grant and a $2 million loan; Hamilton Wind Energy LLC, which received a $311,666 grant; Luther College Wind Energy Project LLC, which received a $500,000 grant and a $1.3 million loan; Norseman Wind Energy LLC, which received a $500,000 grant and a $1.8 million loan; and Wolverine Wind Energy LLC, which received a $500,000 grant and a $2 million loan.
In Kansas, Hoisington Wind LLC received a $272,250 grant and a $330,000 loan, and SEOS Wind LLC received a $215,300 grant and a $150,000 loan.
