Trillium Power Welcomes New CEO, Provides Ontario Offshore Wind Market Update

Trillium Power Wind Corporation (TPWC) has appointed Scott Keating as its new CEO, retroactive as of October 1.

Keating previously served TPWC as chief of global operations. In his new role, he will spearhead ongoing development of TPWC projects, including TPW1 Offshore Wind, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary responsible for advancing the TPW1 Offshore Wind site.

“I am honored and excited to accept the CEO role and lead TPWC into a new era of development with a renewed passion and at such a critical time in planning and developing clean and affordable energy generation resources in our home province,” says Keating.

“Our TOWI Offshore Wind project is unique as the first offshore wind site in Ontario to be selected for its ‘far-offshore,’ world-class wind resource and it holds immense potential as a source of clean, affordable energy and economic development for many communities. I have been privileged to participate directly in some of the most successful offshore wind developments in Europe, and I’m committed to seeing our project to success while positioning Ontario to become a regional leader.”

In 2022, the Ontario IESO published its Pathways to Decarbonisation that included a contribution from offshore wind of 11 TWh as a proposed solution to meet demand for 2050.

Last month, the Ontario Ministry of Energy and Electrification issued a call to action, “Ontario’s Affordable Energy Future, The Pressing Case for More Power.” In doing so, The Honorable Stephen Lecce confirmed that the Ontario IESO has predicted electricity demand to increase 75% leading into 2050 and promises to execute a “competitive all-of-the-above approach” to delivering more clean energy.

Scott has a tremendous experience in off-shore wind and will be a game changer, for Trillium, and for the entire effort to advance off-shore wind in Ontario.
