The certificate is designed to meet the needs of recent graduates of undergraduate engineering programs interested in a career in the wind energy industry, current industry practitioners interested in additional education and credentials, and professionals in other industries interested in transitioning into the wind energy industry, according to the university.

The requirements for the certificate include the successful completion of three core courses in the mechanical and industrial engineering department and two elective courses.
