The U.K. wind industry has installed 6 GW of wind energy capacity – enough to power over 3.35 million homes, RenewableUK has announced.
The 6 GW threshold was reached by the Ormonde offshore wind farm – located off the coast of Cumbria – which now has 120 MW in operation.
The U.K. government's Renewable Energy Roadmap calls for 31 GW of combined onshore and offshore wind power by 2020.
