Timken says it has invested to expand its service offerings at Standard Machine in Saskatoon, Canada, to include Philadelphia Gear brand high-speed gearbox repair capabilities and Timken bearing remanufacturing services.

Timken, which acquired Standard Machine in 2013, says Standard Machine's location near energy and mineral resources and strong technical capabilities provide a platform for growth in Canada. Standard Machine also recently opened a dedicated high-speed gear test bay.

"We recognize the importance of local access to repair services for complex equipment, particularly for end users in the energy sector, where the costs of downtime are significant," says Carl Rapp, vice president of Timken Power Systems. "Customers count on us to help keep their mission-critical equipment running, and the expansion of our capabilities in Saskatoon fits with our commitment to deliver the value that demanding customers expect."

Timken says the Saskatoon facility is now equipped to provide a full range of bearing services from reclaim to reconditioning and remanufacture. Services include everything from cleaning, visual inspection and repackaging, all the way through complete replacement/reconditioning of roller components and raceways to return the bearings to like-new condition, the company adds.

"Investment in these new capabilities further strengthens our commitment to meeting the needs of our Canadian customers," comments Frank Mascia, managing director for the company's business in Canada.
