The Campo Band of the Kumeyaay Nation received the Collaboration of the Year award at San Diego's Dealmaker of the Year awards ceremony.
The Campo Tribe won for its collaborative $300 million wind power project on tribal land in Eastern San Diego County. The tribal government is developing the project with Invenergy LLC and San Diego Gas & Electric. The wind energy project is expected to produce 160 MW.
‘Development of this project will allow the tribe to further diversify our tribal economy while, bringing further economic development to the communities of East County,’ says Chairwoman Monique LaChappa.
The Fermanian Business Center at Point Loma Nazarene University and Nielsen Construction sponsored the Dealmaker of the Year awards event, which focuses on individuals and projects that propose creative solutions to difficult problems.
