Technip celebrated the launch of its offshore wind business at its headquarters located near Aberdeen, Scotland. The new office will act as a center of engineering excellence and will support U.K. and other European offshore wind projects, according to the company.
During the event, Technip and Iberdrola signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to bid for two of the five offshore areas that the French government has offered for competitive tender in a first phase totaling 3,000 MW. The MOU covers the design, engineering and construction of the two zones.
‘Technip's new offshore wind offices in Aberdeen are a welcome addition to Scotland's growing renewable energy sector,’ says Keith Anderson, CEO of Iberdrola's global offshore division. ‘We are also very pleased to welcome Technip into our consortium to bid for offshore wind projects in France. As a well-established company, with a strong presence in France and in all major energy capitals, they are an ideal partner to help us bid for these major projects.’
